About The Happy Handicrafter

The Happy Handicrafter is more than a creative brand — it’s a gentle gathering place for those who love paper, texture, memory, and the quiet magic of handmade things. Created as a cozy corner of inspiration, it invites you to slow down, explore, and create with intention.

Here at The Happy Handicrafter, creativity is rooted in storytelling. Every journal page, printable, and tutorial is designed to help you capture moments, preserve memories, and enjoy the beauty of imperfect, handcrafted work.

A Creative Journey with The Happy Handicrafter

My creative journey began nearly 35 years ago with scrapbooking — carefully preserving photos, ticket stubs, and everyday memories on paper. Those early projects sparked a lifelong love for paper crafting that continues to evolve.

About 20 years ago, planners entered my life and quickly became a creative outlet of their own. From traditional planners to bullet journals and traveler’s notebooks, I discovered how structure and creativity could live side by side. These experiences later inspired many of the planner-style printables you’ll find throughout The Happy Handicrafter collections.

Discovering Junk Journals

Around eight years ago, I discovered junk journaling — and everything clicked. The layers, textures, freedom, and storytelling felt like coming home. Junk journals allowed me to blend scrapbooking, planning, and memory keeping into one soulful creative practice.

This love for junk journaling became the foundation of The Happy Handicrafter, inspiring curated digital kits, ephemera, and journal papers designed to feel timeworn, collected, and deeply personal.

Thrifting & Treasure Hunting

Thrifting and antiquing have been passions of mine for as long as I can remember. There’s something magical about treasure hunting — discovering old ledgers, postcards, handwritten notes, and forgotten ephemera that whisper stories from the past.

These found treasures influence many of the vintage-inspired designs at The Happy Handicrafter, shaping collections that feel gathered rather than manufactured.

Creative Life Beyond Paper

While paper crafting is at the heart of The Happy Handicrafter, creativity extends beyond the craft table. I also enjoy crocheting, photography, and even a bit of bowling — reminders that creativity flourishes when we allow room for play, curiosity, and joy.

Photography, in particular, often inspires color palettes, textures, and seasonal themes found in my journal kits and freebies.

Community & Creativity

At its core, The Happy Handicrafter is about community. Whether you’re new to junk journaling or have been creating for decades, you are welcome here. This is a space for learning, experimenting, and growing creatively — together.

Through blog posts, tutorials, printable kits, and shared inspiration, I hope to encourage you to trust your creativity and enjoy the process just as much as the finished page. to seeing you there!

A Warm Welcome from The Happy Handicrafter

So make yourself comfortable, gather your scraps, and stay awhile. From my desk to yours, The Happy Handicrafter is here to celebrate handmade magic, paper treasures, and the stories waiting to be told — one page at a time.
